Gachagua reveals details of his meeting with Kirinyaga political leaders

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Saturday, February 8, 2025, hosted a delegation of political leaders from Kirinyaga County at his Wamunyoro home in Nyeri, which he has since turned into a center of political strategy meetings ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Taking to his official X account, Gachagua revealed that the delegation to his home was led by Kirinyaga Senator James Murango and the county’s woman MP Njeri Maina.

“This morning I met a delegation from Kirinyaga County led by Senator James Murango and Hon. Njeri Maina, Women Rep Kirinyaga,” Gachagua stated in a statement shared via X.

MCAs in Gachagua’s meeting

A section of Members of County Assembly (MCAs) from the Kirinyaga County Assembly also joined the meeting.

They included David Mathenge (Baragwi Ward), Kinyua Wangui (Mutira Ward), Moses Maina (Kanyekini Ward), Eric Muchina (Kerugoya), Beatrice Mitaro (Wamumu), and Daisy Githinji (Kabage Ward).

According to the second Deputy President of Kenya under the 2010 constitution, they had discussed the local sentiment across Kirinyaga County and the expectations people have on the current happenings.

Gachagua, who noted that his political consultations will continue, stated that the Kirinyaga delegation had also shared their proposals on what they should do as they plan onwards.

“Also present were MCAs Hon. David Mathenge (Baragwi Ward), Hon. Kinyua Wangui (Mutira Ward), Hon. Moses Maina (Kanyekini Ward), Hon. Eric Muchina (Kerugoya), Hon. Beatrice Mitaro (Wamumu), and Hon. Daisy Githinji (Kabage Ward). We discussed the local sentiment across Kirinyaga County and the expectations people there have on the current happenings. They also shared their proposals on what we should do as we plan onwards. The consultations continue,” Gachagua stated.

The meeting comes moments after Gachagua hosted a delegation from the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) at his Wamunyoro residence on Saturday morning, February 8, 2025.

Gachagua, who has been at the center of the country’s shifting political landscape, described the meeting as a candid discussion on the nation’s governance, constitutional law, and human rights.

Gachagua hosts Jubilee leaders

Gachagua, on Friday, February 7, 2025, hosted Kiambu County leadership of the Jubilee party at his Wamunyoro residence.

The leaders were former Limuru MP Peter Mwathi, Kiambu County Jubilee party chairman George Maara, organizing-secretary Dismas Kamau, Minority Leader in the Kiambu County Assembly Joe Kigara, and nominated MCA Lucy Wanjiku.

“We discussed various issues affecting our country today and the options on how to deal with them. We also shared around the lessons learned from our last political contest in 2022 and how to leverage these lessons into a common future for our region and our nation,” Gachagua said in a statement.
