DP Gachagua maintains sustained attacks on DCI officials, asks them to keep off gov’t offices

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua now says that the Directorate of Criminals Investigations (DCI) should keep off government offices and return to their offices in Kiambu.

The DP who was speaking during an orientation workshop for newly elected Governors in Mombasa faulted the DCI for creating a ‘poisonous atmosphere’ for civil servants.

“We have told DCI to return to Kiambu road and wait for crimes to be reported there. They have no business in government offices hovering all over and creating a toxic environment for service delivery,” he stated.

“We cannot have detectives in government offices because they poison the atmosphere for civil servants to deliver,”.

The former Mathira Member of Parliament (MP) who has been an ardent critic of the Kinoti-led agency also maintained that the DCI previously abused their positions to harass leaders in elective positions.

“I want to assure you we are aware of the harassment and intimidation governors have been put through by state agencies,

“The level of extortion by detectives pretending to be fighting graft whereas they were were just extorting money from governors and officials is a thing of the past,” he stated.

The second-in-command further criticised the DCI for sending junior-ranked officers to arrest high-rank leaders.

This according to him undermines the powers and authority of the leaders.
