Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has disclosed that he convened a meeting with a delegation of Elders from Kajiado West at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
In a statement via his official X account, the former DP stated that the delegation had accompanied Engineer Dickson Ntikoisa and discussed the close ties between the Maa and Mount Kenya communities.
Gachagua further detailed that during the meeting they revisited various moments when the two communities worked together.
“This afternoon, I hosted a delegation of Elders from Kajiado West that had accompanied Engineer Dickson Ntikoisa to come to see me at our Wamunyoro Residence. During our discussions, we revisited the close ties the Maa Community has had with Mt Kenya communities, including the various moments they have worked together going way back to before independence,” Gachagua stated.
He went on to say that the elders briefed him on the current happenings in Kenya and what interventions they think could help the country.
“The elders also walked me through their view of how Kenya is moving and what interventions they think we can make as we head into this year. These consultations are really helping us crystallize our thoughts on how to proceed, and we are grateful to all those making their way to Wamunyoro to meet with us,” he added.

Apart from the elders from the Maa community, the second deputy president on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, hosted the Kikuyu Council of Elders Kiama Kia ma.
“Yesterday, I had an opportunity to continue consulting and listening when I met a delegation from ‘Kîama Kîa Ma’.
“These Senior Elders, mainly County Chairs and County Patrons drawn from various counties shared with me their ideas of what they think are the priorities for the year 2025, and the options they see facing our community, especially as regards political direction and social integration,” Gachagua disclosed.
He has also convened a meeting with a team of young leaders from Nyandarua who were led by Njeri Kahiga.
“This morning, I met with a team of young leaders from Nyandarua who were led by Njeri Kahiga at our Wamunyoro Residence.
“Njeri is an aggressive voice for change in Nyandarua County and a distinguished youth leader in her own right. I was impressed with her understanding of various issues affecting our nation at the moment and her principles regarding the ethos that should guide how leaders interact with those who elect them into public office,” he said.
