Gachagua congratulates UDA flagbearers for winning in mini-polls
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has applauded United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidates who won in the just-concluded mini-polls.
Taking to his official Twitter account, the country’s second-in-command shared congratulatory messages lauding respective flagbearers in by-elections held on January 5, 2023.
“Congratulations to all our candidates who won respective seats during the by-elections held on January 5th, 2023,” the DP wrote.
“Our candidates emerged victorious in three of the four contested seats demonstrating our party’s strong popularity among voters countrywide. The UDA candidate, Hon. William Kisang won the Elgeyo-Marakwet Senate seat while in Kandara and Garissa Township constituencies, our flagbearers Hon. Njuguna Chege & Hon. Barrow D. Mohamed won the MP’s seats clearly showing our party’s strong performance during the mini polls,” he added.

He also congratulated Abduljabar Saamiya who represented the party in the Shella ward by-election held in Lamu.
The mini-polls conducted followed the resignation of previous members after they were appointed to President William Ruto’s cabinet.
Kandara’s parliamentary seat was previously occupied by Alice Wahome who was recently sworn in as Cabinet Secretary (CS) for water and sanitation.
Garissa township was previously occupied by Aden Duale, who is currently the CS for Defence whereas the Elegeyo Marakwet senatorial position was previously occupied by Kipchumba Murkomen who is the current CS for Transport and Public works.
