Gachagua attends Kariobangi North MCA-elect thanksgiving ceremony in Nairobi
By Luke Oluoch, November 30, 2025An entourage of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) official on Sunday, November 30, 2025, joined Kariobangi North Member of County Assembly-elect David Warui in his Thanksgiving ceremony following his election as the new MCA.
Warui was declared the winner of the just-concluded by-election after garnering 2,282 votes.
Led by party leader Rigathi Gachagua, the DCP contingent’s itinerary started at the PCEA Kariobangi North Church in Nairobi County, where a solemn service to offer thanks was conducted.
“DCP Party Leader, Rigathi Gachagua, accompanied by Kariobangi North DCP MCA-ELECT David Wanyoike Warui and other leaders, is attending a celebration and Thanksgiving Service at PCEA Kariobangi North Church in Nairobi County,” a statement from the DCP party stated in part.
Gachagua was accompanied by his deputy, Cleophas Malala; Embakasi North Member of Parliament (MP) James Gakuya; DCP’s Nairobi Patron, Irungu Nyakera; and other leaders.
DCP clinches three seats
The seat was among the three wards the party won in addition to the Narok Township ward, where Douglas Masikonde carried the day.

The budding party also clinched victory in Kisa East wards in Khwisero, where Dickson Okwiri Aduda was declared the winner.
Gachagua termed the victories as a major statement for his seven-month-old party, hailing its statement win from the “newest kid on the block”.
“Our party, making the newest kid in the Block, which is seven months old, whitewashed old parties, some as old as twenty years,” he stated.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declared Douglas Masikonde the winner in Narok Town Ward with 5,997 votes against UDA’s Robert Kanyinke Ole Kudate, who garnered 4,479 votes.
His remarks were later followed by an announcement that he would be making a trip to the coastal region to continue the popularisation drive of his new party.
The former DP stated that the development was informed by the party’s decent showing in the by-elections, including its second-place position in the Magarini by-elections.

“Congratulations, Hon. Stanley Karissa Kenga, our candidate in Magarani, for such a strong showing. For a new party—@DCP_Democracy—with no previous inroads in the Coast region, a credible second is more than acceptable,” he stated.
“This now gives an entry into the Coast Region. I will be on the Coast over the holiday season to meet possible aspirants and establish party offices. Well done, Stanley. We are proud of you,” he revealed.
Meanwhile, it remains to be seen how DCP’s foray into the coastal region pans out.
The region remains a stronghold of the ODM party, even as it appears a battleground ahead of the 2027 polls following the death of the departed ODM leader, Raila Odinga.
