An entourage of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) politicians has this Saturday, September 13, 2025, taken their campaigns to Murang’a County, a day after President William Ruto hosted a delegation of the area Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) at State House.

Led by Rigathi Gachagua and Senator Joe Nyutu, the opposition leaders made stops at Kenol, where they continued the onslaught on Ruto’s administration for attempts to win over the Mt Kenya residents through bribery.

Taking to his social media page, the former DP revisited his ‘wantam’attack on Ruto, stressing that his attempts to bribe people into his camp were futile.

“It is daylight corruption and bribery! No amount of bribe will sway the will of the people. They have seen through the lies and are now more determined than ever before. The movement for liberation of Kenya remains unstoppable—It is WANTAM!” he stated.

His remarks come after he attacked Ruto for hosting a section of the county’s MCA leadership at State House on Friday, September 12, 2025.

Speaking while a rival faction of the grassroots leadership from the area visited his Wamunyoro home, Gachagua chided the head of state for trying to win over the Mt Kenya through bribes and coercion.

Speaking on the MCA’s visit to State House, Gachagua slammed their decision to meet Ruto at State House, branding them as traitors.

He extolled the delegation at his residence for showing unique patriotism and selfishness, terming it a gratifying gesture to be steadfast and refusing to get entangled with the bribery going on at the state house.

“These are the true leaders of the Murang’a people, and I ask the people to take note of the traitors in State House, those who are selling their people for money. They should take note and in two years elect people who can represent them and not sell their birthright,” he stated.

He further stated that Ruto’s sole purpose in meeting the delegation was far from being development-oriented.

“He has not called people to discuss progress. It is unnecessary to pretend to call them for discussion of progress when there is nothing he has done in last three years and he will do nothing in the remaining two years,” he added.
