Former NYS MD Matilda redeployed to Ministry of Agriculture
Former National Youth Service (NYS) Managing Director Matilda Sakwa has been redeployed to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development and appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Pyrethrum Processing Company of Kenya Limited (PPCK).
In a letter dated Thursday, April 20, Head of Public Service Felix Koskei said her appointment takes effect immediately.
“The Administration’s Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) posits the agricultural value chain as a key driver for employment and wealth creation.
“In actualizing this seminal agenda, the re-engineering of the pyrethrum value chain has been identified as a priority flagship programme, with the objective of enhancing the earning of our pyrethrum farmers,” Koskei said.
Matilda leaves NYS
Matilda handed over office at the NYS on Wednesday, April 19 to her deputy James Tembur.
“Finally, the day is here and I’m grateful to the Almighty for the time and opportunity at the NYS,” she said during the handover ceremony at NYS headquarters.
Matilda was appointed as NYS MD in 2019 by then President Uhuru Kenyatta.
She has been credited for ending grand scale corruption that rocked the agency for many years.
