Former magistrate, tycoon in a Sh30m land dispute
Former Nairobi Chief Magistrate Pamela Uniter Kidullah is embroiled in a vicious fight with a prominent cereal farmer over ownership of a 20-acre parcel of land estimated to be worth more than Sh30 million.
The disputed property is part of 92-year-old Mzee Michael Siror’s 716 acres Tunen Farm located on the border of Trans Nzoia and Uasin Gishu counties.
Speaking to the media yesterday, Kidullah said that she acquired the prime parcel of agricultural land more than 20 years ago from Stephen Sugut who was a former security aide to the late President Daniel Moi.
Kidulah, who also served as Chief Nairobi Town Clerk in the Kanu era, explained that she bought the property after entering into a sale agreement with Sugut and fulfilled all legal obligations over the purchase of the disputed land.
Elderly tycoon
She was reacting to an incident where a gang of youths armed with bows and arrows, allegedly on instructions of the elderly tycoon, stormed the disputed land, and brought down the fence in a daring daylight incident, an invasion that caused tension and anxiety.
The tycoon is said to have deployed a tractor to plough the land as the marauding youth stood by on the fence to provide tight security.
On being informed about unusual activities on the farm she claims ownership of, Kidullah rushed to the scene with the aim of stopping the ongoing activities.
“I bought this 20-acre parcel of land from Stephen Sugut who was a former aide of the late President Daniel Moi and I do not know how Mzee Siror is coming in to claim that he owns the same land,” she said.
She, however, confessed that she has no title deed for the same property.
Kidullah said the tycoon was a stranger to her and that she has never dealt with him on any issue related to land matters.
