Five universities are expected to benefit from a Kenya and United States of America (USA) collaboration, which will cover various fields of specialisation.

The collaboration will see Indiana University from the USA work with five universities in various fields of collaboration.

Higher Education Principal Secretary Dr Beatrice Inyangala (pictured) held bilateral talks with representatives of the two countries in Nairobi and it was agreed that the Kenyan universities to benefit from the programme should identify faculties, which Indiana University will support.

Inyangala affirmed that the collaboration will open many opportunities for Kenyan students to receive excellent university education.

“Indiana University is a world class institution, it is a top notch in several fields of studies. I urge the universities’ vice chancellors to find ways and space for collaboration with Indiana University,” the PS said.

The PS said that the US based university has been partnering with Moi University in the last 20 years in various fields.

Other than Moi University, other universities represented in the meeting were Embu University, Technical University of Kenya, Dedan Kimathi and Open University of Kenya.

Embu University,  Vice Chancellor Prof Daniel Mugendi presented Agriculture, bio-technology and Nursing as his preferred areas of collaboration while his Dedan Kimathi University counterpart Prof Eng Peter Muchiri picked Micro-electronics.
