Nick Vujicic
Australian-American Evangelist and motivational speaker Nick Vujicic continues with his tour of Kenya today.
Vujicic is in the country for an evangelical mission aimed at spreading the word of God and also inspiring the populace to avert suicide.
During his visit to Kenya in 2022, the world-renowned evangelist and motivational speaker stopped 10 Kenyan students from committing suicide.
Nick Vujicic is a global icon of resilience and positivity. Despite being born with Tetra Amelia Syndrome, a condition characterised by the absence of arms and legs, he has never let his physical limitations define him. He is a testament to the power of the human spirit.
Yesterday, First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto hosted Vujicic at State House Nairobi.
Today, the evangelist continues on his mission to share the gospel of Christ ahead of Sunday sermon which is expected to air on national TV and also stream online.
Sirikwa Cross Country
Athletes from across the world are today gathering in Eldoret for the annual Sirikwa World Athletics Cross Country.
The Sirikwa Cross Country Classic is an annual running race held in Eldoret, Kenya. It is a Gold Standard Meeting in the World Athletics Cross Country Tour, attracting large crowds and a world-class, mainly Kenyan, field.
The first edition was held in 2022 and was named the Agnes Tirop Memorial Cross Country. In 2023, it assumed its current name – referencing an Iron Age tribe from the region.
AFCON
Africa Cup of Nations entered the quarter-final stage on Friday after a gruelling round of 16.
Yesterday, Nigeria and D.R Congo booked tickets to the semi-finals after trouncing Angola and Guinea 1-0 and 3-1 respectively.
Today, Mali clash with tournament host Ivory Coast while Cape Verde take on South Africa.
Mali defeated their neighbours Burkina Faso 2-1 in the round of 16 while Ivory Coast pulled a miracle to defeat favourites Senegal in a nail-biting penalty shootout to book a place in the quarter-finals.
South Africa Vs Cape Verde match is up for grabs as there are no clear favourites. Both teams have surprised many by making it this far.
In the group stage, Cape Verde defeated Ghana 2-1, trounced Mozambique 3-0 and drew 2-2 with Egypt. They defeated Mauritania 1-0 to get to the quarter-finals.
South Africa lost 2-0 to Mali in their AFCON opener, defeated Namibia 4-0, drew 0-0 with Tunisia and produced arguably the biggest upset of the tournament when they defeated Morocco 2-0 in the round of 16.
