February 26, 2024: Top news events to look out for today
Here is what you need to know to get up to speed with today’s happenings.
KUCCPS
Students can continue applying for courses in universities and colleges after the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) extended the deadline.
KUCCPS opened its portal for the application for placement of students to universities and colleges on February 7, 2024.
The application deadline, which had been set for today February 26, 2024, has since been extended until KUCCPS ascertains that all targeted students have applied.
In a statement on Sunday, KUCCPS acknowledged that the migration of government services to the eCitizen platform had slowed the validation for university and college applications.
“Since payments for Government services have been migrated to the eCitizen platform, the process of payment validation for the KUCCPS application is longer than before. Applicants are advised to avoid making double payments.
“The processing of applications for placement will start once KUCCPS is sure all applicants have submitted their course choices based on the targeted number of students. Therefore, no one will be disadvantaged on the basis of the day or time they made their applications.
“After the first placement exercise, there will be two revision opportunities that will be provided for students who will not have applied, or those who will not have secured their selected courses, to reapply.
KUCCPS is working closely with relevant stakeholders in Government to ensure that all applicants are enabled to submit their choices in the spirit of leaving no student behind,” KUCCPS said.
