The Farmers Party of Kenya has denied claims that it has dissolved to merge with President William Ruto’s party United Democratic Alliance (UDA), terming the reports as misleading.

Farmers Party of Kenya Secretary General Simon Kamangu in a statement yesterday insisted that the party was still an independent legal body.  Kamangu made the announcement after the party held its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Nairobi accusing UDA of issuing a misleading communiqué.

UDA Secretary-General Cleophas Malalah (pictured) last week indicated that Farmers Party was among five other political parties that had folded to join UDA.  The other parties were Umoja na Maendeleo Party, Economic Freedom Party, Chama cha Mashinani, the National Agenda Party and Chama Cha Kazi party.
