Families of Nandi chopper crash victims gather for prayers ahead of joint requiem service
Grieving families of the victims of the Nandi plane crash convened on Wednesday. March 4, 2026, at Lee Funeral Home for a solemn prayer session, marking the first of a joint series of events to honour their loved ones.
Taking it to their social media handle on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, the National Assembly confirmed that the families have gathered for the prayer session and will later hold a requiem mass at the African Gospel Church in Karen, Nairobi.
“This morning, families of the late Hon. Ng’eno, Rtd Lt Col. George Were, Mr Robert Keter, Mr Amos Rotich, Mr Wycliffe Rono & Mr Nicholas Kosgei gathered at Lee Funeral Home for a prayer service before proceeding to the Africa Gospel Church Karen for a joint requiem service,” the National Assembly’s statement read.

Following the service at Lee Funeral Home, the families and invited mourners are set to proceed to Africa Gospel Church Karen, where a joint requiem mass will be held. The mass aims to bring together all families, communities and leaders affected by the tragedy, providing a collective space to pay tribute and honour the lives lost.
Nandi Plane crash occurrence
On the afternoon of February 28, 2026, a helicopter carrying Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament Johana Ng’eno and five others went down in a hilly part of Chepkiep, Mosop, Nandi County, shortly after take-off.

The aircraft reportedly encountered deteriorating weather conditions and low visibility and had attempted an emergency landing before it crashed and burst into flames. All six people on board, including the MP, the pilot, and four others, were killed in the accident.
Among those being remembered are the late member of parliament for Emurua Dikirr Constituency, Johana Ng’eno, pilot George Were, Robert Keter, Amos Rotich, Wycliffe Rono, and Nicholas Kosgei.

After the requiem mass, which will allow friends, colleagues, and leaders to pay their respects.
Ng’eno will be buried on Friday, March 6, 2026.
