‘Even when he accidentally tells the truth, no one believes him’ – Muite slams Ruto

By , October 25, 2025

Former Safina Party leader and veteran lawyer Paul Muite has criticised President William Ruto, accusing him of eroding public trust through dishonesty.

In a post shared on X on October 25, 2025, Muite wrote, “The problem with a lying president is that even when he accidentally tells the truth, no one believes him. Everyone believes there’s a LOOTING objective in all his schemes, dams, stadiums, e-procurement, roads, etc. Tragic!”

His remarks reflect growing discontent with Ruto’s leadership and perceived misuse of national projects.

Leadership transition at Safina

Muite’s criticism comes weeks after he formally handed over Safina Party leadership to businessman and 2027 presidential hopeful Jimmy Wanjigi.

The symbolic ceremony, held on September 18, 2025, at Ngong Racecourse, marked the end of Muite’s tenure and the start of a new political chapter.

During the event, Muite passed the party’s constitution, membership registry, and a symbolic staff to Wanjigi, urging immediate action against corruption. “There are things that cannot wait until the next elections. The corruption we are witnessing cannot wait for another two and a half years,” Muite said during the National Delegates Conference.

Call for urgent action

Wanjigi, embracing the party’s new direction, echoed Muite’s sense of urgency, saying Kenya could not afford to wait for the 2027 general election to demand accountability. He introduced the “Fist Agenda,” a reform-driven platform focusing on universal healthcare, free education, debt restructuring, and elected OCPDs to oversee police conduct.

Dressed in a Gen Z-inspired outfit, Muite had earlier urged young people to lead mass demonstrations, insisting that the fight against corruption should begin immediately.

Mounting criticism of Ruto’s leadership

Muite’s remarks align with recent statements by former Attorney General Justin Muturi, who, during a Kameme FM interview on September 15, 2025, described President Ruto as a “pathological liar.” Muturi alleged personal grievances, including the 2024 abduction of his son by security officers reportedly acting on presidential orders.

The two leaders join a growing list of political figures, among them Kalonzo Musyoka and Rigathi Gachagua, who have openly opposed Ruto’s re-election bid.
