Kenyans in rural areas will soon have access to high-speed internet after Starlink, a subsidiary of Tesla creator Elon Musk (pictured), said it will introduce internet service in Kenya this year.

The IT company announced that, subject to regulatory approval, it will enter the nation by June of 2023. The launch of the company will put operators like Safaricom, Zuku, and other internet providers up against one another. “Place your order right away to hold a Starlink. According to the corporation, Starlink plans to offer service in your area as of Q2 2023.

“Regulational permission is required before availability. Orders are filled on a first-come, first-served basis within each coverage region, it added. The company, which is targeting Kisumu, Nairobi, Mombasa, and Nakuru among other cities, stated that potential clients can order and deposit a refundable $99 (Sh12,260).Musk’s company provides internet services via satellites, whilst local businesses like Safaricom do so via Wi-Fi, cellular networks, and fiber cables. Along with Kenya, the company will debut in Tanzania, Zimbabwe, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Malawi, Benin, and Morocco.

Others are the Republic of Congo, Mauritania, Togo, Angola, Somalia, and the Western Sahara. It will arrive in 2024 among other places in Uganda, Namibia, Botswana, Ghana, Liberia, Gambia, Egypt, and Tunisia.

It began, “The world’s largest constellation of highly advanced satellites operating in a low orbit above the planet makes Starlink’s high-speed, low-latency service feasible.
