Duo remanded for Ksh11M fraud case
Two businessmen were yesterday charged in a Nairobi court with conspiring to defraud Sh11 million from Ahmednasir Abdulahi Advocates by falsely pretending they were in a position to sell a parcel of land.
Guyo Kuchana Haleke (below) and Samuel Kimani Kamau, who appeared before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Ben Ochoi, pleaded not guilty to the fraud charges.
The prosecution alleges that on diverse dates between January 17, 2022, and March 29, 2022, in Nairobi, jointly with others, they obtained Sh11,000,000 from Ahmednasir Abdullahi Advocates.
The law firm was acting on behalf of Mohamud Heshi Abdi. The land is said to be located in Eastleigh. The magistrate ordered the accused to be remanded until September 29 when the court will review their bail application.
This followed an application by lawyer Cohen Amanya who is watching brief for the complainant that the two accused persons should not be released on bail as they are fly risk.
He told the court that the accused persons are members of a syndicate where a group of people have been defrauding innocent citizens through the same means.
