The Director of Public Prosecutions has moved to the High Court to appeal against the acquittal of nine suspects in the Solai dam case.

His move comes two days after the DPP was accused of putting roadblocks that forced the court to set the suspects free.

Under a certificate of urgency, the DPP termed the decision by the lower court as improper and illegal.

In the case, Perry Manusukh the farm owner and the others were charged with 48 counts of manslaughter on May 9, 2018 in Solai Nakuru and failing to prepare an environmental impact assessment report. 

This came as Naivasha Chief magistrate Kennedy Bidali who acquitted the nine dismissed a petition by the Kenya Human Rights Commission seeking to be enjoined in the case.

Bidali said the ruling had covered the issues of the petition.
