Doctors on Wednesday held protests at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) demanding better employment terms.

The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) secretary general Davji Atella they want the hospital to obey a court order on employment and payment of doctors as well as reinstatement of those who have been sacked.

“The demonstration is a show of displeasure in your leadership, unfair dismissal of doctors in post-graduate training, unfair engagement of doctors on contract in KNH despite it being against the KNH Manual and blatant refusal to obey court orders,” Atellah said.

Doctors had earlier threatened to go on strike every Wednesday at KNH if their demands are not met.

They are demanding reinstatement of sacked colleagues, restoration of study leave, restoration of risk allowances and supply of proper PPEs.
