Disband the Caretaker Committee now, Nyamweya
Former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Sam Nyamweya speaks over the decision by the world football governing body Fifa to ratify Kenya’s indefinite suspension from all international football activities.

Former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Sam Nyamweya has broken his silence over the decision by the world football governing body Fifa to ratify Kenya’s indefinite suspension from all international football activities.

The former president now wants the Caretaker Committee to be disbanded in its entirety observing that some of the members are not committed to bringing sanity to the game.

He said that Sports CS Amina Mohammed should not wait up to May 11 when the Committee’s term lapses, as it is clear now that it will not have achieved its mandate. Fifa upheld the embargo during its 72nd congress in Qatar on Thursday.

“I am sure I am not the only one who holds the position that the Caretaker Committee has become rudderless and failed in its mandate and failed Amina (CS, Sports) and government,” Nyamweya said.

He added: “While we had hoped that the Committee was going to streamline the running of the game and give the way forward, this has not been the case and as it stands now, there is more confusion in the game than it was before.”

Nyamweya said that with the ratification, Kenya has been given a chance to clean up the mess in football over the last five years culminating in the disbandment of the Nick Mwendwa-led National Executive Council.
