Detectives nab 2 men linked to selling bhang inside a butchery in Kasarani
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have apprehended two men linked to the sale of illegal drugs at a butchery in Kasarani.
In a statement by the DCI’s official X account on Friday, January 30, 2026, detectives revealed the arrest was successful after an operation from the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU) and the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU).
“In the ongoing crackdown on narcotics trafficking, detectives from the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU) and the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) have arrested a Kasarani man who had turned a butchery into a clandestine drug outlet,” DCI said.
According to the detectives, one of the persons of interest is a butchery operator in the Marurui area.
The arrest
He was traced after DCI received information from a credible intelligence indicating that the premises were being used as a front to peddle cannabis while flying under the radar.
Upon the raid of the butchery, a sizeable haul of narcotics, including 81 rolls of bhang, 18 cookies, 13 sim-sim rolls and five small mabuyu containers, all laced with cannabis, were recovered.
In addition, the detectives were able to nab a delivery rider who was found in possession of 14 rolls of bhang at the premises.
“During the operation, detectives also arrested a delivery rider, Willinton Nadwa, who was caught red-handed delivering 14 rolls of bhang at the premises,” DCI said.

In a similar operation, ANU detectives acting on further intelligence intercepted a Nairobi-bound matatu along the Nakuru–Nairobi Highway at a roadblock mounted in Limuru, Kiambu County.
Following a thorough search of the passengers, detectives found a woman in possession of a brown suitcase containing three packages of bhang, neatly wrapped in yellow cellotape.
“A thorough search of passengers led to the arrest of Judith Faith Oriende, who was found in possession of a brown suitcase containing three packages of bhang, neatly wrapped in yellow cellotape,” DCI added.

Detectives have revealed that all the persons of interest are currently in custody, undergoing processing pending arraignment. The recovered narcotics have been secured as exhibits.
