Reactions to Mjadala Afrika AUC debate in Ethiopia

Reactions are expected to the Mjadala Afrika debate which occurred on Friday, December 13, 2024, evening pitting three contestants for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship whose elections are slated for February 2025.

In his opening statement during the Mjadala Afrika debate, Raila indicated that if elected, he would ensure Africa gets two permanent seats in the United Nations Security Council.

He also noted that his agenda would focus on trade, agriculture, free movement and energy among other visions of the founding fathers of the union.

“I am going to lead from the front to ensure that we achieve the vision of the founding fathers of our continent,” Raila said.

EAC Inter-parliamentary games enter Day 8

The East African Community (EAC) inter-parliamentary games in Mombasa enter day 8.

The games which range from inter alia tug of war, darts, football, netball, basketball, golf, volleyball and football have seen members of parliament from the East African region experience defeat and victory alike.

On Friday, December 13, 2024, the MPs engaged in the walking race, 800 m race, 400m-relay race and the 200m race.

While Uganda topped the medal table with 9 gold, 10 silver, and 5 bronze medals, Kenya secured 3 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals to post an impressive finish in second place.

Though Kenya did not earn a top finish in the women’s walking race, the fans were greatly impressed by Senator Crystal Asige’s participation under the guidance of an aide.

“I hope more PWDs participate in more activities in the future other than just darts. Like I have done today, we can try different sports and do our best. Put your best foot forward as a leader so that others in future may say Asige did it, maybe I can do it as well,” Asige said.

FKF premier league action

The weekend will feature a host of exciting local football matches with the first one being between Kakamega Homeboyz and Ulinzi Stars at 2:00 pm at the Mumias Complex.

Other matches lined up for today are Mara Sugar v Kariobangi Sharks at Awendo Stadium at 2:00 pm, Nairobi City Stars v Talanta FC at the Utalii Grounds at 3:00 pm and a clash between Police FC and Gor Mahia at the Sportpesa arena at 3:00 pm.
