The nomination materials of the Democracy for Citizen Party (DCP) have arrived in Ol Kalou ahead of the party primaries slated for Saturday, May 9, 2026.

A video shared by the DCP party across its social media platforms shows on Friday, May 8, 2026, the ballot boxes being offloaded from a truck, ready for the election tomorrow.

This comes at a time when 9 candidates have expressed interest in the party ticket.

The move comes just a day after DCP opened applications for aspirants seeking the party ticket for the same by-election. In a notice issued on April 26, 2026, the party invited interested candidates to apply for nomination ahead of the mini-poll set for July 16, 2026.

DCP set a non-refundable nomination fee of Ksh250,000 for general aspirants and Ksh125,000 for youth and persons with disabilities. The party said applicants must submit completed forms, supporting documents, and proof of payment to its headquarters before the deadline.

In a statement shared by the ruling party on its social media pages on Friday, May 8, 2026, it was reported that voting was underway at Mbora Primary School Polling Centre in Mirangine Ward, Ol Kalou Constituency.

The exercise is part of the nomination process ahead of the by-election scheduled for Thursday, July 16, 2026.

“Voting is underway in Mbora Primary School Polling Centre, Mirangine Ward, Ol Kalou Constituency, in today’s nomination exercise ahead of the by-election scheduled for today,” UDA stated.

This comes at a time when ten candidates are jostling to fly the UDA flag.

UDA aspirants

They include Joseph Ndirangu Ndung’u, Peter Njoroge Mugo, Samuel Muchina Nyagah, George Wambugu Kanuri (Delight), Maina Kiambati, Joseph Chuchu Njuguna, Stanley Mwangi Wairimu, Mary Nyokabi Kamau, Daniel Ndung’u Mwangenye, and Ezekia Kamweru Kiraing’wa, all seeking the party ticket.

Deputy Party Leader Kithure Kindiki had earlier met the aspirants at his Karen office, where he urged them to consider consensus-building and agree on a single candidate to fly the party’s flag in the Ol Kalou constituency mini-poll.

On the DCP side, Rigathi Gachagua had held a sitting with all the aspirants at his office in Nairobi, where he promised them a free and fair nomination exercise.
