Former Wajir Governor Mohamed Abdi has been summoned by sleuths attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The embattled governor was summoned by the detectives on Tuesday night just hours after he forcefully entered the County Government offices.

The Governor, who was impeached early this year and his office occupied by his 2017 running mate Ahmed Ali took over, is expected to record statement with seven others.

He is expected to give details on why he broke into the county government offices and was being aided by police officers.

In a statement, Ali gave details accusing the ex-governor of breaking into his office.

“The former Governor Wajir County, Mohamed Abdu Mohamud today (Tuesday) broke into my office. The penal code on vandalism is very clear on such matters. As I officially lodge a complaint to the National Police Service on this act, vandalism on a government office is illegal and amounts to treason charges,” he said.

He said that he had already launched a complaint with the police over the break-in.

Efforts to reach the ex-governor bore no fruits as he was not responding to calls.

Mohamud was impeached on grounds of gross misconduct and abuse of office but has always insisted that he is still the governor.

He recently attended a council of governors meeting in Makueni County.

He was also in June kicked out of a meeting that was being chaired by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.

Mohamud had arrived at the meeting an hour earlier than Ali and occupied his seat.

However, when Ali arrived at the meeting which was taking place in Nairobi, Mohamud was asked to leave the premises.

Police officers had to intervene and the ex-governor accepted to leave voluntarily.
