CS nominees to face lawmakers as vetting ends
Five Cabinet Secretary nominees are today set to appear before lawmakers for vetting in an exercise to will conclude tomorrow.
The National Assembly’s committee on appointments chaired by Speaker Moses Wetang’ula will continue with the exercise, which started on Monday after it took a break on Wednesday to pave way for the Mashujaa Day celebrations that were held at Uhuru Gardens.
The nominees expected to appear to include former Meru senator Mithika Linturi who has been nominated to the position of Agriculture and Livestock Development, former Raila Odinga’s aide Eliud Owalo (Information Communication and the Digital Economy) long-serving provincial administrator Ezekiel Machogu (education) former Foreign Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Ababu Namwamba (Youth Affairs, Sports and Arts) and Rebecca Miano (East African Community, Arid and Semi-arid Lands and Regional development).
On Saturday the committee will vet former Labour CS Simon Chelugui (Cooperatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development), former Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya (Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime affairs), Florence Bore (Labour and Social protection) and Mercy Wanjau who will serve as the Secretary to the Cabinet.
