Covid-19: 21 deaths recorded as 148 test positive

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has announced 148 new cases of Covid-19 from a sample size of 2,143 tested in the last 24 hours. This represents a positivity rate of 6.8 per cent.
From the new cases, 144 are Kenyans while 4 are foreigners. Males are 79 while females 69.
The youngest is a one-year-old baby and the oldest is 87-years-old.
The total number of positive cases confirmed in the country rise to 172,639 while the cumulative samples tested are 1,836,410.
In terms of recoveries, 631 patients have been given a clean bill of health. 496 of them were from home-based isolation and care while 135 were discharged from various hospitals.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 118,226, of whom 85,892 are from home-based isolation and care while 32,334 were treated in hospital.
CS Kagwe has sadly announced 21 deaths as results of the pandemic. The deaths were recorded after conducting health facility audit record in the month of April and May.
Total fatalities now stands at 3,308.
According to Kagwe, 1,147 patients are currently admitted to hospitals because of Covid-19. 4,802 patients are in home-based isolation and care.
102 patients are in the intensive care unit, 26 of who are on ventilatory support, 60 on supplemental oxygen and 16 under observation.
95 people are separately on supplemental oxygen with 88 of them in general wards and 7 in HDU.
0n Vaccination, the CS announces that 13,194 people have received their second dose.6,337 are health workers, others 2,575, aged 58 years and above. Teachers account for 1,161 while 714 are security officers.
