Contractors put on notice as 3 PSs tour Trans Nzoia
Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Macharia Kamau has asked the Chinese firm constructing Kitale- Endebes-Suam road to work within the stipulated deadline in order to avoid shoddy works.
Speaking during the inspection tour of the Kitale- Endebes-Suam road on Thursday, Kamau asked the contractors to make sure the project which aims at connecting Kenya with the neighboring Uganda is completed on time.
He took issue with the slow pace of the road construction works and asked technical personnel charged with oversight to make sure the contractor hastens work on the road which has stalled for six months.
He warned that contractors who fail to finish flagship projects of the national government would no longer be trusted with other projects in future and asked technical officers to ensure works are completed on time.
“It is very shameful seeing that networks put in place by the government are in such despair as people entrusted to oversee projects watch. We are challenging those technical officers to move with speed and ensure works are completed on time,” he said during an interview with the People Daily.
The PS who was also accompanied by Devolution PS Julius Korir and Planning PS Torome Saitoti also toured Kitale airstrip where the team asked the engineers to ensure the works are finished as scheduled.
The Kitale Airstrip is expected to be completed on 10th December, 2021.
Other Projects toured by the three principal secretaries were the Kiptogot Water Project and Sabwani girls secondary school in Endebes.
Trans Nzoia County Commissioner Sam Ojwang, who accompanied the three, explained that works on the Endebes Road had been slowed down following heavy rains that pounded the region last year and early this year.
