CJ Koome hosts auditor general, vows to strengthen judiciary efficiency

Speaking on her official X account on Friday, September 12, 2025, Koome said she hosted the Auditor General as part of engagements aimed at building stronger collaboration with independent offices, oversight bodies, and partners.
“Under the STAJ Blueprint, the Judiciary is focused on ‘Strengthening Financial Mechanisms that Support the Independence and Integrity of the Judiciary,’” she said.
Koome emphasised that practical steps are being taken to embed efficiency and financial prudence in the operations of the Judiciary. She pointed to the adoption of a new system as a key milestone in the process.
“One of the milestones in this journey is the adoption of the system, which has significantly improved the way we manage and utilise our resources,” Koome said, noting that the system is designed to enhance accountability, transparency, and planning within judicial operations.
The Chief Justice explained that the system allows for better tracking of resources and ensures that funds are used effectively, reducing waste and improving oversight across departments. She highlighted that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to ensure that the Judiciary demonstrates leadership in prudent financial management.
Koome’s statement comes amid increased scrutiny of public institutions to ensure that financial resources are managed efficiently and transparently. By embedding structured systems and mechanisms, the Judiciary seeks to prevent mismanagement and strengthen confidence in its financial operations.
“The system is a key instrument in ensuring that the Judiciary demonstrates leadership in prudent financial management,” she said, emphasising the importance of accountability at all levels of the institution.
Her message further underscored the critical importance of sustained collaboration between the Judiciary and other oversight institutions, noting that such partnerships are essential for safeguarding institutional integrity, enhancing accountability, and ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of justice.
