Bandari tactician Bernard Mwalala will be eyeing his second victory in eight matches when the club resumes local duties this afternoon with a midweek league match against Zoo at Mbaraki grounds.

Bandari had gone on a six-match winless streak prior to their convincing 2-0 win over US Ben Guerdane of Tunisia in a CAF Confederation Cup tie at the weekend. 

Now the former international striker turned tactician, hopes the victory will set the club on a winning streak locally.

“It is finally coming together and I hope this opens a new chapter for us, one where we start winning our local league matches.

Our target is to win the league and represent the country in the Champions League next year but to do that we must get points from as many matches as possible,” said Mwalala.

Goals by Yema Mwana and Abdalla Hassan have made the coastal outfit dare dream again. Bandari thrashed Zoo 3-0 in their last meeting in May and look to inflict another blow to the Kericho-based side at Mbaraki Sports Club.

Zoo also lost their best player last season, Danson Chetambe, to Bandari and only signed his younger brother in consolation.

Chetambe who scored 13-goals for Zoo in all competitions last season, will be in the starting team against his former side after starring during their weekend exploits.

Zoo on the other hand feel confident of getting a result in Mombasa after a morale boosting 3-1 thrashing of Chemelil Sugar in their opening match.

Coach Sammy Okoth is optimistics of their chances and targets of the season ahead of the game.

“We had a positive start to the season and we want to build on it when we face Bandari in Mombasa.

Our opponents are very good and it showed in their game last weekend but I believe we had better rest and that should give us an edge.

We do not want to be fighting for survival at the d of season so the best thing would be to grind results early,” Okoth said after his victory over Chemelil Sugar.

Kenyan champions will play their rescheduled tie with Chemelil Sugar in Kisumu tomorrow after arriving back in the country yesterday morning from Algeria.
