Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has proposed the execution of corrupt government officials as a way of fighting and eradicating corruption in the country.
In a statement via his official X account on Monday, December 23, 2024, Cherargei suggested that the country should adopt the Chinese way of dealing with those involved in the embezzlement of public funds.
In addition, the vocal senator stated that bringing to book corrupt state officials is one of Gen Z’s proposals during their countrywide anti-government demonstrations which is achievable under President William Ruto’s regime.
He further noted that eradicating corruption in Kenya through accountability and transparency will create an equitable and equal society.
“To fight & eradicate corruption in Kenya we must go the Chinese way of publicly executing the corrupt in national, counties, judiciary, parliament and all sectors,” he stated.
“The slaying of the corruption dragon in Kenya will create an equitable & equal society through accountability and transparency. This was one of the GenZ proposals which is achievable under the current administration.”
Cherargei’s sentiments come after the Chinese government according to GHOne TV executed a former state official over corruption charges totalling about 412 million dollars which is equivalent to Ksh53,292,200,000 billion.
Kalonzo on corruption
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, called out the Kenya Kwanza government over what he calls cases of untamed corruption.
In a statement, Kalonzo said Kenyans are suffering over taxation while elites who are in government are leading luxurious lifestyles.
“This regime has become dishonourable by ignoring the people’s plight. As Kenyans suffer under the weight of the world’s highest taxes without service, Ruto leads one of the most luxurious and ostentatious governments, whose members continue to flaunt their questionable wealth even after the recent Gen Z protests,” Kalonzo stated.
“In the circumstances, it would seem that the main reason Kenyans are so heavily taxed is the need to fund corruption and a few people’s luxurious and ostentatious lifestyles. This must stop. The People’s Loyal Opposition strongly believes that it is immoral to tax Kenyans to the extent that this government is doing without showing anything useful for the proceeds of this taxation.”
