Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has said that he reached out to Jeptoo Jacobeth, the Mosop woman who helped rescue victims of the helicopter crash that killed Johanna Ng’eno, MP for Emurua Dikir, and five others.

In a statement shared by the outspoken lawmaker on Monday, March 2, 2026, he stated that he had spoken with Jacobeth to learn about her role in the rescue mission and acknowledged her bravery during the incident.

Cherargei added that Jacobeth had recently completed her community health nurse course at Kendu Bay Adventist School of Medical Sciences in February 2026 and was preparing to sit for the Kenya Nursing Council qualifying exams in May 2026.

“I have just had a phone call conversation with our heroine, Jeptoo Jacobeth of the Saturday rescue mission of the ill-fated helicopter air crash that killed Hon. Ngeno Ngong, Johanna Mp, Emurua Dikir constituency, and 5 others. She just cleared her studies at Kendu Bay Adventist School of Medical Sciences in February 2026 for the community health nurse course. She is waiting to do the Kenya Nursing Council qualifying exams scheduled for May 2026.”

The senator said he had paid for her upcoming exams and cleared her pending school fees, enabling her to register as a practising nurse.

He added that he would continue supporting her journey, including assisting with placement opportunities and helping her advance her efforts in serving the community in honour of the late Ng’eno and the other victims.

Cherargei also thanked the Chepkiep community, residents of the Mosop constituency, and Nandi County for the solidarity they showed during the tragic accident.

“I have paid for her upcoming exams and pending school fees to allow her to get clearance and get registered as a practising nurse. We shall work with her on the journey until she secures a placement and advances her efforts in serving humanity as an honour to our departed brothers. To the Chepkiep community, Mosop constituency, Nandi County, thank you for the solidarity you showed during the tragic accident on Saturday.”

This comes at a time when the remains of the late MP and five others who were aboard the helicopter at the point of the crash are resting at Lee Funeral Home after being repatriated from the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH), where they were temporarily preserved following evacuation from the accident scene.

Funeral and burial arrangements for the late MP are in full swing. The National Assembly Speaker formed a 10-member committee led by Tindiret MP Julius Meli, assisted by Buuri MP Mugambi Rindikiri and eight others, to liaise with the late MP’s family regarding the burial arrangements.

The president William Ruto himself has also paid a condolence visit to the family of the late in Karen to offer his tribute
