Laikipia Women Representative Catherine Waruguru has been discharged from the Parliamentary Committee on Members Service and Facilities.

The Jubilee party discharged Ms.Waruguru despite her visit to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga last week to get ‘sanitised’.

National Assembly Majority Chief Whip Emmanuel Wangwe announced Ms. Waruguru’s discharge on June 17, a week after her meeting with Raila.

“This is, therefore, to inform you that the Majority Party hereby discharges the Hon. Catherine Waruguru, MP from the Membership of the Departmental Committee on Members Services and Facilities,” read the discharge letter.

On July 9, Ms. Waruguru visited Raila Odinga and later posted some details of their meeting. She said she would do whatever it takes for the benefit of her Laikipia people.

Capitol Hill later released a statement that Waruguru was willing to work with Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

All along, Ms. Waruguru had been an ardent supporter of Deputy President and a hard critic of Raila Odinga. In 2019, she accused the former Prime Minister of castigating to impeach the DP.

Waruguru follows suit to disciplinary actions by Jubilee party against lawmakers allied to Deputy President William Ruto.
