Businessman shot dead in Kiambu
Police in Kiambu have launched investigations to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of a businessman who was shot dead by unknown assailants early yesterday.
The middle-aged businessman Daniel Muchiri met his death in the hands of armed criminals as he opened the gate to his house at Ngamba in Ndeiya, Limuru sub county just after midnight.
It was reported that Muchiri who operates a salon at Odeon Cinema in Nairobi town was attacked by armed gangsters who shot him at point blank.
Ndeiya Sub-County Police Commander Roseline Mnyolmo said when Muchiri arrived, he honked but security guard delayed to open the gate.
“After hooting for some time with no response, the deceased decided to disembark from his car and open the gate and suddenly noticed a car pulling and parked behind his before the thugs jumped out of their car, shot him dead before speeding off,” she said.
A neighbour, Richard Mwangi, said they heard the killers ordering the deceased to open the car door before shooting. “We heard them shouting, ‘open the door’ several times and later we heard two gun shots. We walked out when we heard the thug’s vehicle leaving,” Mwangi said.
Neighbours and family members rushed him to Kikuyu hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
“So far, no one has been arrested but we are conducting investigations into the incident,” the police commander said.
She said the thugs only stole his mobile adding that investigations will unveil if there was anything else that was stolen.
