Here is what you need to know to keep up to speed with today’s happenings.

London Marathon

The highly anticipated London Marathon 2025 will be taking place.

The 45th edition of the run, which takes athletes from Blackheath through Woolwich, Greenwich, across the Thames, around Canary Wharf and through the City of London to Buckingham Palace, takes place on Sunday, April 27, with a star-studded list of world-class athletes and celebrities set to take on the challenge.

Kenya’s Eliud Kipchoge is returning to the London course, hoping to beat his younger rivals and etch his name in history books. Six men with sub-2:04 personal bests are going to race, meaning the event will be a very competitive one.

Kipchoge will be in action at 11:00 am.

Kenya Kwanza allies in Kisii

Kenya Kwanza allies are today, Sunday, April 27, 2025, expected to hold a major harambee in Kisii, in what is widely seen as a strategic move to counter former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i’s growing political influence.

The fundraiser will support Marani Catholic Parish in Kitutu Chache North and will feature top government figures, including President William Ruto’s close aide, Farouk Kibet, who will be the Chief Guest.

Other allies of Ruto expected at the event include National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar, Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, among others.

The event will be hosted by area MP and UDA National Treasurer Japheth Nyakundi, marking the latest in a series of high-profile fundraisers organised by influential Kenya Kwanza leaders across the country.

“This Sunday, 27th April 2025, I will be hosting a Mega Funds Drive in support of Marani Catholic Parish, in Kitutu Chache North Constituency, Kisii County,” Nyakundi wrote on Facebook.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is expected to feature in a televised interview from 7:00 pm.

Gachagua, in a statement made via his official social media accounts on Saturday, April 26, 2025, said that he would be hosted by Weru TV to discuss matters affecting the nation.

“On Sunday, 27th April, 2025, we discuss matters of our nation, our future and our progress as a people and Kenyans. Join me on Weru Television for a candid and truthful conversation,” Gachagua stated.

FKF Premier League

On Sunday, Kakamega Homeboyz will host Sofapaka at Mumias Sports Complex, while Ulinzi Stars will battle FC Talanta in Lang’ata. Talanta are looking to keep their winning run going after shocking Gor Mahia in their last game, which they won 1-0.

Tusker, hoping to keep a firm grip on the top spot, will face off against Mathare United at Dandora Stadium.

After surprisingly going down to Talanta, Gor Mahia’s guns are now trained against Mara Sugar. K’Ogalo will host their opponents at Dandora Stadium at 4:00 pm.
