The remains of a woman who disappeared from her house in a Kakamega estate on Sunday has been retrieved from a septic tank.

A foul smell from the septic tank, that had attracted flies, is what led curious neighbours and the police to the scene.

They found the decomposing body of Carolyn Shayne in the manhole, retrieved and transferred it to Kakamega county general hospital mortuary where a postmortem is due.

This is the fifth person to be killed in Lutonyi area of Kakamega town in a span of four months, the circumstances are almost similar.

Carolyn’s landlord said the deceased spent the fateful Sunday night with a boyfriend in the house and was never seen again
