Blow to Lenku as MCAs impeach his minister
Kajiado Governor Joseph Lenku’s Cabinet has suffered a blow after the county Assembly impeached his minister for Education Jeremiah ole Ncharo with his Public Service Executive counterpart surviving by a whisker.
In the politically divided county Assembly, 21 MCAs voted in support of the impeachment motion against 20 MCAs who tried to save the officer.
Ncharo was accused of irregular bursary disbursement, abuse of office, incompetence and misuse of public resources.
His plea to the assembly to save him on claims that the move was political were futile. With the rejection of the three executive nominees and impeachment of another one, Lenku’s Cabinet remains incomplete.
Three county ministers are holding office in the infrastructure, tourism and youth dockets in acting capacities.
The three dockets remained vacant after Ward Reps rejected three nominees fronted by Lenku. He is yet to nominate others.
Lenku retained seven of his first term ministers who were not subjected to the assembly approval.
