Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has transferred embattled County Executive Committee Member Agriculture Executive Benjamin Andama amid storm over distribution of alleged fake fertilizer.

Andama has swapped places with his Public Service and County Administration counterpart Godfrey Owori.

Also affected is Bill Silingi, Chief Officer Crop Protection and Irrigation and his Cooperatives Development Department counterpart Emmanuel Kariuki, who have also swapped their dockets.

Chief Officer for Urban Development and Housing Faith Gitira has been moved to the Department of Trade, Enterprise Development, formerly held by Shakir Adan.

Adan is now the Chief Officer at the Urban Development and Housing docket. “Department of Communication will now be under Joseph Abucheri, the immediate former Chief Officer for Youth, Sports and Library Services. His predecessor, Joseph Lutilo, is now the Chief Officer for Sports,” Barasa said in the statement.

New changes also saw Justin Mutobera, the Chief Officer at the Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change department swap places with Musafiri Kulova of Land Administration, Survey and Physical Planning department.

Reshuffle was effected amid rising protests over alleged fake fertilizer being distributed to farmers.
