Banned sprinter Otieno petitions government on performance enhancing substances

athletics: Kenyan sprinter Mark Otieno Odhiambo has petitioned President Uhuru Kenyatta, the Cabinet and the National Assembly to stop any contaminated supplements getting into the country.
His three petitions came against the backdrop of the 28-year-old athlete serving a provisional ban for an alleged anti-doping breach which kept him out of the Tokyo Olympics last summer.
And as he fights to clear his name, Otieno is finding a new path in helping to combat future problems that could affect sportsmen in the country.
In his first petition,Otieno urged the Head of State to put a ban on imported nutritional supplements forthwith.
“I am writing to petition your excellency to urgently put in place a moratorium on importation of supplements in order to protect innocent Kenyan athletes and businesses from inadvertently consuming and trading in contaminated supplements.
