Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has challenged Kenyans on the importance of performing their civic duty, hailing the transformational importance the process could lead to.

In a statement on his Facebook page this Friday, October 3, 2025, the legislator stated that the journey to ushering in new leadership and change starts only when people get out to register as voters.

He implored Kenyans to acquire their voting credentials.

“We came to the City by bus to change home. Let’s change our City to change home. Mabadiliko huanza kwa kuchukua kura.(real transformation begins by registering as a voter,” his statement read.

Babu’s remarks come as the call for the youth to step up their role in the electoral process mounts.

In a passionate appeal this Friday, October 3, 2025, Agano Party Secretary General Pessa Odanga hailed the hunger shown by the youth to effect leadership change in the country.

The official who termed the youth as the country’s opposition implored them to harness the power they have shown in social media spaces and to take real action by voting.

He asserted that the polling station remains the only place where the youth can make their voices heard and decisions count.

Do not wait

“We have seen their urge to effect new leadership; this is the right time to get new leadership in the country. For one to be able to bring the new leadership, this war will not be fought on the streets; it will be fought in the polling station with your vote,” he stated.

“Let us not wait to be influenced,” he stated. “The 7 million votes plus 6.3 million is a number that you cannot joke with. If they decide to vote for one person, then that individual will win,” he asserted.

Pessa also explained that the demographics of the Kenyan youths would be a crucial determining factor in the country’s 2027 presidential race.

“I believe the Gen Z and young people are the opposition based on the new dynamic and politics they have brought into our politics. In 2022, we had close to 8 million who never voted, and now IEBC says they are targeting 6.3 million, meaning the youths can determine who the next president and leaders
