Atwoli hints at endorsing Mudavadi succession
COTU Secretary-General Francis Atwoli and Shinyalu MP Fred Ikana have endorsed Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi to succeed President William Ruto come 2032.
Atwoli and Ikana said Mudavadi was the most-suited to take over from President Ruto to enable him carry on with the Kenya Kwanza government’s development agenda.
“I am sure that no one will manage to dethrone Willam Ruto as President in 2027 and I urge my brother Musalia to stick with the Head of State, help him drive his economic agenda until 2032 when he will be seasoned enough to take over as the country’s commander in-chief,” said Atwoli.
The two said they would assist Mudavadi to unite Luhyas behind Ruto while he was busy discharging his duties in government.
“Luhyas should fully rally behind Mudavadi to the last person even as he is busy serving in the government. We should not expect him to be in every funeral, church or village telling us about his achievements. We will be there to speak for him,” said Ikana.
The duo was speaking at Shiveye village in Ikolomani Constituency, Kakamega County during the burial of Mama Rose Mudavadi, an aunt to the PCS.
Atwoli hinted at “Bukhungu III” during which they would officially re-enthrone Mudavadi as the de facto leader of the Luhya Nation.
“Musalia showed our community the way in 2022 by he and Speaker Moses Wetang’ula making a decision that baffled many of us who were in another political formation. It, thus, taught us life-long lessons,” he added.
Atwoli and Ikana said the decision by the President and PCS to campaign for Azimio Leader Raila Odinga’s bid for the African Union Commission Chair was proof that they were not vindictive by nature.
“These two leaders are now busy galvanizing for support towards Raila and that proves that they are nationalists. Our country is, thus, safe under them,” said Ikana amid cheers from the mourners.
The two leaders pointed out that Luhyas should stick by Mudavadi and Wetang’ula for their dreams to produce Ruto’s successor to come true.
