Allan Ademba recounts moments in exile after ‘Blood Parliament’ documentary
By Cynthia Lodite, April 17, 2026Tuko Kadi initiative lead Allan Ademba has recounted his moments in exile after the viral BBC exposé on the Blood Parliament documentary.
Speaking during an interview with a local radio station on Thursday, April 16, 2026, Ademba revealed that he was flown out to safety because of the documentary.
The Kenyan journalist became a prominent figure among ordinary Kenyans and on social media after a BBC investigative documentary exposed how Kenyan security officers were involved in the shooting of innocent protesters, shaking the world’s conscience.
“I was flown out and taken into hiding because of the ‘Blood Parliament’ documentary,” Ademba stated.
At the time, Ademba revealed that the exile was expected to last at least one month, but he could not bear it any longer and requested to be brought back to Kenya.
“It was to take one month, but we got to a point, and I wanted to come back home,” Ademba explained.
Shortly after his return, Ademba broke his silence following his account of the June 25th, 2024, happenings at the Parliament of Kenya.

In the video, the then fourth-year journalism student showed no hesitation in recounting what he witnessed during the Gen Z youth protests.
Ademba said that he had seen some advising him to seek asylum abroad for his safety, but he made it clear that he had no plans to do so, although he was grateful for such advice.
At the time, he said he felt relieved to see Kenyans advising him to flee the country for his safety, as it showed they cared about him, but he refused to follow the advice, saying that telling the truth about what he witnessed was not a mistake.
“Kenyans, I really appreciate the love that you are showing me, and I am just thinking of saying this right now. Because a lot of you have been asking me to seek asylum, I don’t know where to go – the UK, Russia, Egypt, Uganda, Nigeria… I don’t know, but this is what I have to say; I don’t know if I did anything wrong, I just used my voice to narrate the sad story, actually to say what I saw,” Ademba said confidently.
