Aldai Member of Parliament (MP) Maryanne Kitany has lauded President William Ruto for forming the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) taskforce set to evaluate the country’s education system and come up with recommendations.

Speaking during a prayer and thanksgiving ceremony at Aldai secondary school, Nandi County, the legislator stated that the new curriculum needed to be reviewed following the complaints and issues raised by various stakeholders.

“We want to thank President Ruto for his response to the issues raised by various stakeholders regarding CBC. For sure our new education curriculum needs a substantive and objective review,” Maryanne stated.

“As much as we laud its objective of nurturing skills and talents, the implementation of the curriculum is so expensive. Most of our parents cannot afford it. We support the appointment of 42 members into the taskforce to listen to those concerns, “the legislator added.

The lawmaker also lauded the Kenya Kwanza government for subsidising fertiliser calling on the farmers to get back to ‘serious’ farming.

“I also want to call upon our farmers to get back to serious farming now that our government has subsidised the fertilizers and they are available in our cereals,” she said.
