Aisha Jumwa and Millicent Omanga land state jobs

Former Cabinet Secretary for Public Service Aisha Jumwa has been appointed the chairperson for the Kenya Roads Boards.
The appointment has been confirmed by President William Ruto following a reshuffle in various parastatals on Friday, January 17, 2025.
Ruto has also named Jimmy Kadhua Kahindi as the chairperson for the Kenya Fishing Industry.
Jumwa has replaced Ahmed Kolosh in the position. Kolosh, a former Wajir West MP, has been in the board since April 2023
The pair will serve for a three-year tenure in their respective position at the parasttals.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 7 (1) (a) of the Kenya Roads Board Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act. I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint- Aisha Jumwa Katana to be the non-executive Chairperson of the Kenya Roads Board, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 17th January, 2025,” the gazette read in part.
“The appointment of Ahmed Kolosh Mohamed is revoked.”
Millicent Omanga has also been named as a member of the board of directors at Kenya Shipyards Limited by Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya.
Omanga, a former Nairobi woman representative and nominated senator, had previously declined her appointment to the Nairobi Rivers Commission.
In 2013, Jumwa was elected Malindi’s woman representative on an ODM ticket.
In 2018, Jumwa warmed up to Deputy President William Ruto following a political pact between then President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition chief Raila Odinga. She officially made her move out of ODM in 2022 for United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Her attempts to vie for Kilifi gubernatorial seat in the year ended in defeat to Gideon Mung’aro of ODM.
The former legislator was however handed a soft landing by Ruto who named her the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Affirmative Action, and Gender Mainstreaming his cabinet.
She was later moved to the Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage docket before losing her position in the July 2024 cabinet reshuffle that was occasioned by the anti-government protests.
