6 dead in Narok-Mulot road accident

Six people died instantly, and seven others were injured in a head-on collision involving two cars on the Narok-Mulot road.
The accident, which occurred a few kilometres before Narok Town, happened when a Subaru Forester heading to Narok collided with a Toyota Sienta headed towards Mulot.
Head-on accident
The Forester travelling towards Narok was attempting to overtake another vehicle but ended up colliding head-on with the Toyota Sienta.
According to the police report, all six passengers in the Sienta died on the spot. The seven injured individuals, who sustained a mix of serious and minor injuries, were taken to various hospitals for treatment.
The deceased have been transported to Narok County Mortuary, where they will await identification and post-mortem examinations.
“It happened that motor vehicle registration KCW ***X was heading towards Mulot and upon reaching at the location of the accident, he collided head on with an oncoming motor vehicle registration number KCX ***P which was heading towards Narok from Mulot ,and who was trying to overtake another motor vehicle,” read part of the police report.
“As a result of the accident, six unknown passengers on board Sienta died on the spot due to the impact. Seven others were rushed to different hospitals with serious and slight injuries,” the report added.
Other accidents
The accident comes at a time when there are ongoing road safety concerns in Kenya. In January, a head-on collision on Narok-Bomet road, involving a Toyota Hiace matatu and a Mitsubishi Fuso lorry, resulted in the death of a driver and left five people with serious injuries.
The crash occurred when a matatu from the Transcar Galaxy Sacco and the lorry collided head-on. In separate incidents, students from Kenyatta University and Chavakali High School were also involved in major road accidents.
The Chavakali High School accident happened at the Mamboleo Area in Kisumu County, leaving one student dead on April 1, 2024. Several others sustained injuries in the accident that occurred at 9:00 p.m. at the Coptic roundabout.
Another tragic accident involving Kenyatta University students left 11 students dead on the spot after a head-on collision between their bus and a trailer near Maungu on the Mombasa road.
