2 arrested with 50kg of cannabis worth Ksh1.5M in Kericho
Police in Kericho have arrested two men caught trafficking cannabis sativa along the Kisumu-Kericho highway, following a tip-off from members of the public.
According to the National Police Service (NPS) post on X posted on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, officers from Sokohuru Police Post moved swiftly after receiving intelligence on a suspicious motorcycle believed to be transporting narcotics for distribution.
“Police officers based at Sokohuru Police Post have arrested two male suspects who were found trafficking cannabis sativa along the Kisumu-Kericho highway,” the statement reads
During the operation, authorities recovered a suitcase containing 26 bales of cannabis, weighing approximately 50 kilograms.

The persons of interest are in police custody awaiting to be processed and taken to court.
“The two suspects were arrested at the scene and are in police custody, awaiting processing and arraignment in court. The exhibit has been secured as evidence,” the statement reads
The arrest highlights the role of community cooperation in curbing drug trafficking. Police say tip-offs from the public are crucial in intercepting illegal activities before they reach consumers.
