Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has asked the Kenyan youth to register as voters ahead of the 2027 general election.

Taking to X on Monday, September 15, 2025, Salasya asserted that the voice of the youth in the country matters, further saying the country’s future is in the hands of its young people. Commanding a huge population in the country, the legislator said every vote of a young person counts, even as he also eyes the presidency in 2027.

”695 days to go until election day! Make sure you’re registered to vote — every vote counts, every voice matters. Together, we shape the future we deserve as the youth of this country,” the Mumias East MP said.

Speaking on Sunday, September 14, 2025, the vocal MP argued that he is the only one with better credentials to spur the country economically among all the candidates who have shown interest in running for the country’s top seat in the 2027 general election.

”Among all Presidential aspirants, only Hon. Peter Kalerwa Salasya holds a degree directly rooted in understanding markets, finance, and economic development, a Bachelor of Commerce. While others may shine in their respective fields, it takes economic literacy and practical business insight to rescue Kenya’s struggling economy. If we want real change, not just politics as usual, then the choice is clear: Vote Salasya for a smarter, economically sound Kenya,” Salasya asserted.

IEBC to resume voter registration

Meanwhile, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced that Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) will resume on Monday, September 29, 2025, countrywide.

The initiative is aimed at ensuring all eligible citizens, especially youth who have recently attained the age of 18, are able to register and take part in future elections.

In a press release dated August 28, 2025, the Commission noted that it has put in place measures to deliver an inclusive and transparent exercise.

“The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) wishes to inform the public that Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) will resume on Monday, 29th September 2025, in line with its constitutional mandate under Article 88(4) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010,” read part of the IEBC statement.

Among the preparations ahead of the exercise are mapping of registration centres for accessibility, engaging stakeholders at the constituency level, consolidating geospatial data, configuring Kenya Integrated Election Management System (KIEMS) kits, and rolling out voter education campaigns.
