Willis Otieno: Safina Party prioritises people and economy over political deals

By , April 19, 2026

The Safina Party has emphasised that its political agenda is centered on improving the lives of ordinary Kenyans and strengthening the economy, rather than engaging in power-sharing negotiations or political bargaining for established leaders.

In a statement shared on the official X account on Sunday, April 19, 2026, deputy party leader Willis Otieno said the party’s focus remains on service delivery, practical solutions, and addressing the day-to-day challenges facing citizens.

“Our focus as the Safina Party is clear: the people and the economy come first , not backroom negotiations over political positions for legacy politicians,” Willis Otieno made it clear.

He said that leadership should be defined by service and tangible results, and not political entitlement or the recycling of power among veteran politicians.

Change of political leadership

Otieno also called for a change of political leadership where leaders should listen to the citizens, act decisively, and deliver meaningful development.

“Leadership must be about service, practical solutions, and improving livelihoods. It cannot be reduced to recycling entitlement and power-sharing deals that ignore the daily struggles of ordinary citizens,” Otieno said.

“Kenyans deserve leadership that listens, acts, and delivers, not one that negotiates seats while the country waits.”

This comes following the opening of the Party’s offices in Kisumu and Siaya on April 18, 2026.

Safina Party new offices

This comes a day after Safina Party leader Jimi Wanjigi opened the party’s office in Siaya amid zoning and disquiet in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ahead of the 2027 polls.

He presided over the launch on Saturday, April 18, 2026, as part of a double opening that also included the Kisumu County office. The Siaya office sits along the Ng’iya–Siaya Road, just before Barding Junction. The Kisumu office is in the Buoye area.

Wanjigi made his position clear in a post on X later that day. He stressed that the new office does not serve as decoration.

“This is not an office for show. It is a working centre, a place where we organise, listen, and build with the people.  We are coming strong. And we are coming with one clear agenda: economic liberation. The people of Siaya must be part of this journey,” he wrote.

Meru launch planned next

This expansion follows a clear pattern. On April 9, 2026, Wanjigi confirmed plans to open an office in Meru on April 26 and 27, 2026.

“On 26th–27th April, I am launching the Safina Meru office. My footprint in Meru is firmly on track, and nothing will stop this moment. I am running for president.”
