Wanjigi berates Ruto’s administration over unfulfilled promises
By Luke Oluoch, December 20, 2025Safina Party leader Jimi Wanjigi has faulted President William Ruto’s administration for its dismal record in fulfilling the post-election promises it made to Kenyans.
Speaking in Kiambu during the consecration and dedication of the Grand Diocesan Cathedral of the ACK Church on Saturday, December 20, 2025, Wanjigi bemoaned the fact that Ruto’s administration had failed to deliver on the promises it made to Kenyans, with the next general elections fast approaching.
He stated that only seven percent of the promises made by the government, which came to power in 2022, had been achieved.
Get down to work!
“Out of 259 promises by Kenya Kwanza, only 19 have been fulfilled, which is equivalent to 7 percent,” he opined.
Wanjigi urged the government to get its act together and deliver, warning that it risked facing the wrath of the electorate in 2027.
“We have 598 days to the next general election. Before talking of Singapore and the first-world dream, let the government step up its game and work for Kenyans. It is a shame, and we have to speak the truth,” he posited.

In a rare praise for the president, the Safina supremo lauded Ruto for influencing a shift from personality-based politics to issue-based discussions.
He, however, reminded the regime that much remained to be desired as far as fulfilling its promises to Kenyans was concerned.
“I want to thank the president. He has done a good job. He has started a very good agenda where now politics, where the issues concerning each politician, are being discussed,” he said.
Wanjigi’s remarks follow criticism from ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, who faulted Ruto over what he termed as self-centred leadership.
Sifuna’s onslaught emanated from Ruto’s insinuation that Kalonzo could not be relied upon to oversee the country’s development if he could not develop his own town of Tseikuru
”Exactly the mentality that will get us to Singapore. Ati, when you get power, you start with yourself. Do I want the road to my village tarmacked? Yes. Is it a national priority to be elevated over, say, Bomas-Kiserian? No. In 2027, get rid of these dealers who think starting with themselves is the measure of leadership.” Edwin Sifuna took to X on Friday, December 19, 2025.
