Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) chairperson Gladys Wanga has criticised former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his remarks touching on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), accusing him of promoting divisive politics.

Speaking during an interview with a local station on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, Wanga accused Gachagua of hypocrisy, claiming he had spent much of his political career fostering division rather than promoting national unity.

Wanga’s remarks follow recent comments made by Gachagua regarding the direction and leadership of the ODM party after the passing of its longtime leader, Raila Odinga.

ODM’s last supper

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, while speaking during an interview on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, warned that the upcoming National Delegates Conference (NDC) of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) could mark the party’s end, claiming it risks being weakened beyond recovery if it enters into a deal with President William Ruto.

Gachagua said the Friday meeting could turn into what he called ODM’s ‘last supper.’

“Can you tell me about this NDC that is scheduled for Friday, that is ODM’s last supper?” Gachagua said.

Gachagua, however, praised the legacy of the late Raila Odinga, describing him as a leader who built one of the country’s strongest political parties.

“That Raila Odinga, in his greatness, has one great legacy. He founded, developed, and grew a strong political party. I admire ODM and the quality of leaders that came through ODM,” he said.

Give Us a Break

Wanga didn’t hold back, using Gachagua’s past comments about how resources should be shared as proof that he shouldn’t give political advice to the opposition.
Wanga dismissed Gachagua’s comments, saying he has no place advising ODM on its internal affairs.

“I saw Gachagua tonight advising ODM in a local station. He propagates hatred, he has been so unhappy, and he said publicly why should any development go to some parts of this country. Today, he goes and purports to advise ODM; Give us a break,” Wanga stated.

Focus on the “Village Party”

According to Wanga, Gachagua should focus on his own political backyard before critiquing a party with a two-decade-long legacy.

“Today, he goes and purports to advise ODM, give us a break. You have a village party, take care of it. Give us a break on ODM, we will manage our politics,” she said.
