Wajackoyah: Anybody who wants change in this country should follow Orengo

Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah has stated that those who want change in the country should follow Siaya Governor James Orengo’s Linda Mwanachi faction and himself.

Speaking during the interment of Uyumo MCA’s son in Kokwiri Sub-location, Siaya County, on Saturday, March 21, 2026, the outspoken 2027 presidential hopeful announced that his party aligns with Orengo’s faction.

Wajackoyah, who has maintained a low political profile recently, also confirmed that, just like in 2022, he is contesting the presidency. He described the Roots Party as a sister party to the late Raila Odinga’s party and Orengo’s faction.

He urged Rarieda MP Otiende Omollo, who was present at the forum, to make the right choice and join Orengo’s team.

Mkitaka mnichukie, but those who want change must follow Orengo, and I, Otiende, my brother, must make your decision.’

The vibrant politician criticised Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders who have aligned with the Broad-Based Movement to support Ruto in 2027, saying their support is driven by personal interests rather than the community’s welfare.

He added that Raila’s strategy was to support the government until 2027 and not past that; thereafter, the late octogenarian was to find ways in which he could clinch the top seat from Ruto. He continued to heap praises on Linda Mwananchi, saying that it’s centred on fighting for the people’s rights.

“Raila alisema tunaenda hadi 2027 alafu tunachukua serikali; most people who are in broad-based are there because of their wives’ children,” Wajackoyah stated.

This comes at a time when Orengo and his Linda Mwananchi faction are heavily critical of the current regime. During the funeral, Orengo vowed that Linda Mwananchi would continue advocating for the people, as it is founded on the ideals of ODM.

It is expected to hold a grand rally in Narok Town on Friday, March 27, 2026, alongside a parallel National Delegates Conference (NDC) in Nairobi dubbed the People’s NDC; at the same time, the Oburu Odinga-led ODM faction will also hold theirs.

On March 29, 2026, a grand rally is planned at the historic Tononoka Grounds in Mombasa.
