UDA youth leader to Kenyans: Go slow on your demands to Ruto
By Luke Oluoch, September 19, 2025The UDA Youth Congress chairperson, Brian Kipkorir, has implored youths to go slow on their demands to Ruto’s government, stressing that the incumbency has made tremendous progress in addressing the challenges since coming to power.
The official, while speaking to a local TV on Friday, September 19, 2025, advised the youth to resist the urge for instant gratification.
While acknowledging the dire need for the government to intervene in the prevailing unemployment crisis as justified, Kipkoror called for a broader view of what the Kenya Kwanza administration has achieved since coming to power.
“We have a lot of impatience with this generation; People want instant results, but we must understand that the crisis we have is beyond Kenya and extends even beyond Africa. These are issues young people need to understand before we place our demand on the government,” he stated.
“We need to understand we can have demands that are not aligned with the budget, so what can we do? So that when we put their leaders to account, we understand what they are trying to achieve,” he added.
Kipkorir has further absolved the current administration of blame, asserting that the challenge of unemployment started long ago.
“As we took over the government, it was obvious we had the challenges of unemployment and a crisis in the economy. The sessional paper 10 of 1986 stated that we needed to actualise the informal sector to solve the jobs challenge. It also predicted a huge bulge of six million unemployed youths by the turn of 2000. These are issues that started long ago, and the past government did nothing to try to conclusively address the issue. It is okay for the youths to be mad, but they must understand the government, ” he added.

His remarks come as William Ruto’s administration enters its third year amid mounting concerns over the gap between its campaign promises and actual delivery.
Speaking recently on the government’s scorecard, Kitui Central MP Makali Mulu criticised Ruto’s administration, saying its performance was “below expectations.”
“We have so many promises which were given to us as Kenyans during the campaigns anytime I watch the debate about Ruto at 3, it educates citizens in terms of what was promised and what has been delivered, when we look into the assessment of the performance is actually leading to about 5 percent achievement, meaning we have been very gentle in terms of assessing the current regime,” he said.
